Why choose St Michael’s?

St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Meadowbank is a wonderfully supportive community that delivers excellent academic results underpinned by our Catholic values. Students are viewed as leaders in our school and encouraged to explore the many co-curricular opportunities available to them.

Teachers are incredibly committed and personalise the learning by setting individual academic targets for every child and teaching and measuring against these standards. Engaged parents support all aspects of school life, underpinning our strong community and helping to develop confident, capable and caring citizens of our world.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to our website and thank you for taking the time to find out more about our school. As principal of St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Meadowbank, I am proud of the nurturing community that has been built by our students, staff, priest, parents and parishioners, the excellent academic results achieved by our students and the vibrant faith opportunities provided for all.

I am passionate about ensuring that students of all abilities and backgrounds receive an individualised education which meets their needs and ignites their curiosity and creativity in a faith-filled and supportive environment.

Our highly professional staff are inspired by the school’s Vision for Learning, ‘From this hill we will soar,’ to provide the children with opportunities to be their best…academically, physically and emotionally, and to be like Christ in the way they interact with others.

We are a Newman Selective Gifted Program School, meaning we specialise in catering for gifted students and we also ensure that all students see themselves as leaders, both in their classrooms and in the broader school community.

I hope you enjoy learning about our school from this website. I look forward to meeting you and your child soon.

St Michael's Catholic Primary School Meadowbank HistoryHistory

St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Meadowbank opened in 1922 under the leadership of two Sisters of Mercy and the parish priest, Fr Gell. In the early days, classes were held in the church, which was built the year before, requiring classrooms to be packed up on the Friday ready for Sunday Mass.

Over the next 100 years, various building projects funded by the parish and government were undertaken, championed by the local community in need of a quality Catholic education in Meadowbank. In 1995, the Sisters of Mercy announced that they were withdrawing from the leadership of St Michael’s, and from 1996 onwards, the school has been led lay principals.

Charism

Our school is inspired by the work of the Sisters of Mercy and their founder, Catherine McAuley. Their charism is kept alive through our school values, which are based on the hallmarks of a quality Mercy Education:

  • Justice
  • Compassion
  • Faith
  • Respect
  • Service
  • Excellence
  • Hospitality
  • Stewardship

Our eight student leadership teams have the responsibility for keeping one of these Mercy Values alive throughout the school.
